The Turtle Flambeau Flowage was created in 1926, when construction began on the Flambeau Dam to create Wisconsin's
third largest reservoir. The Turtle-Flambeau Dam harnesses power from The Turtle River, fed from Lake of The Falls
in Mercer, WI, located 20 miles to the North and The Flambeau River, located 20 miles to the South in Park Falls, WI.
The Flambeau Dam generates energy for the paper mill in Park Falls, located on the Flambeau River.
